                         Quilt Challenges

Quilt Challenges are a fun way to show off your designing and imagination with the materials presented and the guide lines of the challenge .

First of all , the challenges are completely voluntary. Just a fun way to expand your creativity.

Second, a time frame to have the quilt complete is announced. If you don’t have it by then no worries, no stress just completed it when you have time.

Lastly, a completed challenge must be quilted, bound and have the guild label on by the date set to have the quilt completed. Then each participant will receive a raffle ticket for each completed challenge given throughout the year. The members are responsible to put their name on the raffle ticket and keep their tickets safe during the year . Then at the Christmas Party, we will put all the tickets from the members in a container and draw a name for a prize.

Challenges

The challenge we are working on now is from Eleanor Burns book “El’s Kitchen”.

EACH MONTH YOU WILL RECEIVE TWO (2) PATTERNS VIA EMAIL.

You will make one block of each pattern. The next month you will get another two patterns and so on til you have received 12 patterns total. This will make a twin{ish} size.

The completed quilt should be shown at the holiday party in December. That gives you 8 months to make your quilt. Some blocks will be very simple, some might make you a little uncomfortable, that is how we learn. Bring your completed blocks to each meeting to get a ticket for the challenge drawing.

This challenge is, of course, voluntary; think of it as a fun way to learn new techniques.

Meri will draw a winning ticket at the holiday party for a gift basket for the tickets you get from bringing your completed blocks each month.

You will receive 4 patterns in April, to catch us up, two patterns in May, two in June, two in July and two in August. After all 12 patterns are completed, you put them together, quilt it and bind it by December.

Any questions please do not hesitate to contact Meri Walker. Please enjoy this challenge and have fun with it!
