2024 Meetings

January 20, 2024
Barbara provided the block of the month (feedsack) and lunch. Road 2 California - 7 of 9 quilts were able to be displayed. The quilts had rave reviews.

February 17, 2024
Alice and Yvonne presented the 9 patch block. They used patriotic colors. The club members were informed of elections for March 9 for the offices of Second Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Lunch was provided by Susan and we enjoyed Chicken Tortilla, salad, and cake for dessert.

The first order of business, we voted for our officers . Yvonne Lindsey graciously volunteered for Second Vice President. Barbara Bailey gallantly volunteered for Secretary. Since there was no one willing to step up for Treasurer, Susan kindheartedly agreed to a third term. We want to thank these ladies tremendously for their willingness to take office starting the first of April.
Meri provided the block this month with beautiful batiks colors called Impossible Twisted Block by Tulip Square Patterns. We can not wait to see the finished quilt. Also Meri provided her famous corn beef and cabbage, so delicious! Kathy E. made Pickle Rye bread and Sourdough bread just delightful.
Everyone had a wonderful time of nourishment, conversation and sewing.

April 20, 2024
Our Open Sew for the month of April, we completed senior bibs and pillowcases . Our gals Barbara, kathie , Meri, and Missy precut the bibs and the pillowcases. My hats off to the wonderful ladies for a for helping us to have a very productive day. The rest of us were able to sew the bibs and pillow cases right away! We worked like a well oiled assemble line to help meet our yearly goals. Thank you ladies we could not do our charity without your generous giving of your time, talents, and most of all your hearts.
The potluck was a great success, we had a variety of delicious food. It is delightful to have conversations and to share lunch with our wonderful friends. No one went away hungry guaranteed!

Our secretary, Barbara read a letter from Better Way. The letter thanked our guild for our donations of quilts, and pillowcases etc. to help support the high desert community. Thank you ladies, you are helping to make a difference in the lives that so desperately need a helping hand.
Eshelle was so kind to bring the Tumble quilt block this month from the Fat Quarter Shop. She added a twist to the pattern by changing the square into a pinwheel. Also, Eshelle brought delicious enchiladas for the guild's lunch. Helping with the lunch Meri made espresso chocolate chip cookies, Kathy E. made blueberry focaccia bread dessert and loaves of sourdough bread for everyone. Susan brought soda , tea and water to drink. We have some awesome cooks and bakers in our mist. Thank you all so much, we never want for something to eat at our monthly meetings.
We have a few volunteers to man the table at the San Bernardino County Fair on Saturday, May 25th . We will get the word out about our guild. Our guild greatly appreciates everything our members can do! We could not do what we do without any of you big hearted ladies!!

We honored Tess for being our secretary for several terms. We are so thankful to her for all her dedication and care for our guild. Tess was awarded a framed certificate and a gift card as a tremendous thank you!!
We learned how to make Flying Geese Diamond Block from Dee. She gave us expert instruction on how to make the pattern, also Dee gave us a few insider tips to assemble the block with ease. It was wonderful! No extra measuring or angles to maneuver.
Our host for lunch was Dee, she provided star spangled red, white and blue decorations for the table. We enjoyed delicious fried chicken, potato salad, chips, and for dessert brownies and cupcakes. A true all American picnic.

The Sew Olympics was amazing! Meri was our coach and presented each event and provided the materials to make each project . Our members raced each other by sewing String Mug Rugs. The ladies were timed, and the first one to complete their project won. The next event was to make Homeless Shelter quilts. The member with the most rows of eight six inch squares won the event. The next contest was to see who could complete a coffee cozy. Dee presented the tutorial on how to make the coffee cozy and she made each of the members the template and materials needed for the project. Afterwards we made hats for the Homeless Shelter.
Our members had sew much fun at the Sew Olympics. We cheered for each other, and we all had a wonderful time being together. Thank you all for participating in the Sew Olympics and making the day amazing! Thank you for bring delicious desserts Gail and Yvonne to help round out our lunch that was provided by Alice and Mary.

We had a sew day and pot luck but no business meeting was held. Lot of fun!

We enjoyed the day with Cori and Patricia providing lunch. Chile dogs were delicious. They also presented the block the Sister Chicks Folded Pinwheel. We had lots of quilts for show and tell. Thank you ladies for all your time, effort, and talent.

Our meeting had a Halloween theme; very festive. We enjoyed the generosity of our members who brought bags of candy to share as we sewed. It reminds us of when we were little and going house-to-house to get our treats.
The block and lunch was provided by Kathie and Missy. We made a lovely Turn Dash block made in Halloween fabric, so cute! The lunch was delicious , Kathie made her famous Tortilla Chicken Soup. Missy our baker extraordinary made sugar free Pumpkin Cheese cakes and cupcakes.
We will be sending quilts for the hurricane victims who are desperately in need of warmth. Our guild helps where ever we can to those who need assistance.

We had a wonderful turn out for our quilt meeting. It was so good to see everyone. We had so many quilts turned in for our community. We could not help those in need without your commitment . Thank you Ladies!
Our guild was presented with the Tipsy Tumbler Block presented by Alice and Yvonne.
The block was easily put together and quick to make. After we completed the block, some of the ladies made Christmas stockings for our seniors and homeless children that will be taken by our liaison Kathie B. Alice and Yvonne graciously provided the members with a wonderful lunch of Chicken Tortilla soup and all the fix’ns.
